Sustainability is "meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs." This means that humans cannot use the Earth's natural resources faster than they can be replenished through natural processes, if we are to survive long term.

Achieving global ecological sustainability will require an unprecedented effort in the coming years and decades. Our future well-being as a species depends on it. This effort will involve every individual on the planet, each doing his or her own small part to reduce environmental impacts and live more harmoniously with the earth’s natural systems.

ImageIn this quest for a more livable planet, we see enormous opportunities to enrich our lives in ways that may be difficult to image now - a society that is less dependent on material wealth, and draws its well-being from nature without destroying the beautiful planet that we all inhabit.

Together, we can achieve these goals. Our mission is to provide the resources to help each of us move in the right direction, with scientific research, studies and networking opportunities that increase our awareness and engage our better sensibilities.
